Scarborough South Loop

Community Ride 2025

Ride Recap

As always, we started with a land acknowledgement – We ride stolen land. We are riding in the lands of the Anishibaabe, including the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee peoples. Sources for our land acknowledgment are NativeLand.ca and Whose Land.

This ride was 27.5 km of conversation pace riding, beginning at the Guildwood Go Station and traversing through Highland Creek Park, Colonel Danforth Park, and the Scarborough Bluffs. Registration was made free with the option to donate to the the Gaza Sunbirds, a para-cycling team and mutual aid organization for Palestinians by Palestinians. Our invaluable raffle sponsors helped us raise a total of $636.92 in support of the initiative!

The day began with a pre-ride coffee social where friends, new and old, could get (re)aquainted. In the spirit of a ‘no-drop’ ride, we had the help of incredible volunteer ride leaders who ensured everyone stuck together for the entirety of the ride. We took frequent stops throughout the trip, allowing everyone to rest, socialize, and enjoy the scenery.

The ride featured a combination of waterfront trails, forested pathways, and residential bike lanes, highlighting the diversity of Scarborough cycling.

The ride ended with samosas and refreshments, where we exchanged stories and raffle prizes.

Finally, we could not have captured this ride without the invaluable help of our contributors on this story:

An enormous thank you to our raffle sponsors for their support! Their time, energy, and value-aligned work keep the cycling community going and we could not be more grateful that we get to call them friends. The Scarborough Community ride would not be possible without their contributions: Patagonia Toronto, Dismount Bike Shop, Atwater Atelier & Urbane Cyclist

Thanks to their donated prizes, we were able to raise $636.92 in support of The Gaza Sunbirds.
